November -
ABOUT THE MOVEMBER ORGANIZATION:
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo’s, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

Once registered at www.movember.com, men start Movember 1st clean shaven. For the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.
Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and words they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.
At the end of the month, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas celebrate their gallantry and valor by either throwing their own Movember party or attending one of the infamous Gala Partés held around the world by Movember, for Movember.

The Movember Effect: Awareness & Education, Survivorship, Research
The funds raised in the US support prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men. The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and our men’s health partners, the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG, the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Together, the three channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programs in line with our strategic goals in the areas of awareness and education, survivorship and research.
ABOUT THE HAGAR NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION:
Hagar is an international organization committed to the recovery, empowerment, and reintegration of women and children who have suffered human rights abuses. In particular, Hagar serves women and children who are victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual exploitation. Established in Cambodia in 1994, Hagar launched programming in both Afghanistan and Vietnam in 2009.
Over time and in response to pressing societal needs, Hagar has been serving an increasing proportion of human trafficking victims. In 2004, the U.S. State Department named Hagar founder Pierre Tami as one of its six international heroes in the struggle against the modern-day slave trade.
To help women overcome their traumatic pasts and achieve true healing, Hagar provides long-term, individualized services. For women, this includes counseling, literacy education, job readiness skills, and vocational training. Most women experience their first formal work experience in a Hagar business. In Cambodia, 80% of women served are living independently in community, two years after receiving Hagar services.
Children come to Hagar from a variety of backgrounds. Some have been abandoned, some born with disabilities, and others abused by people they loved. The common denominator is that each child has been cast out, and each child needs time to heal. Services include residential care, trauma counseling, and education.
Although each individual’s journey is different, each woman and child walks through three critical steps: recovery, building resilience, and reintegration.
The journey is long and the road is challenging. However, just as was true for the historical woman named Hagar the women and children served learn that they are not hidden, they are not forgotten, and they are no longer silent.
ABOUT THE FOOD FOR THE POOR ORGANIZATION:
Food For The Poor is the third-largest international relief agency in the United States according to the Chronicle of Philanthropy and has maintained fundraising and administrative costs of less than 4% of its expenses; more than 96% of all donations go directly to programs that help the poor.
ABOUT THE NOT FOR SALE CAMPAIGN:

Around the world people have taken notice: the breath of freedom is uniting people. No longer can we stand by as 30 million people are enslaved.
It is no longer enough to think about change.
It is no longer enough to talk about change.
It is time to shift gears — marrying movement with intelligent action.
Our collective challenge is simple: Stand with those who are enslaved, work together to free them, and empower them in their freedom to break the cycle of vulnerability.
What we are combating is wide-ranging, deeply embedded, and largely invisible (how else could it exist in our own backyards?). A holistic, all-encompassing response is in order. Igniting and aiding this comprehensive response is the Not For Sale Campaign’s purpose.
The Not For Sale Campaign bridges knowledge to action.
With your help, we are working to raise awareness and collective understanding about human trafficking. But we live in a time and place where people are restless “to do something”. In recognition of this desire to act we will be completing and distributing handbooks for action. What can yourathletics team do? What can your university do? What can your community of faith do? What can your business do? What can you do as a musician?
In 2009 and beyond we will be providing new ideas and proven constructs for action.
Without a doubt, the wall standing against slavery today consists of backyard abolitionists, people like yourself, who are willing to build the bridge to freedom.
